Our #IEAESPCouncil spent this weekend learning and growing as a team. We spent this time focusing on ourselves and learning to gel as a team, so we can better focus on the Education Support Professional members we represent.
I want to give a special thank you to IEA Secretary/Treasurer Gina Harris for joining and learning with us as we learned and practiced important Team Building skills. Also, a shout out to IEA Vice-President Karl Goeke for stopping by and encouraging our team.
Huge props to Amy Evans and Michael Williamson as they lead our True Colors session on Friday evening, and Robert Powell and Adrian Vargas for leading Team Building session on Saturday morning. Our council is better focused, more cohesive, and better prepared because of your great leadership. Thank you!!
We have HUGE goals and challenges that we are preparing for this year. Together we will succeed. If you haven’t joined the rESPect Campaign join now, together we will bring rESPect to all of our members!!!
We hope you feel appreciated today and know that what you do matters! You are phenomenal, needed, and essential and you deserve RESPECT!! www.iearespect.org

Please remember all those who work so hard to support our students, staff, and schools.

Yesterday, a fabulous group of IEA members and IEA staff met virtually to discuss, organize, advocate, and grow rESPect for education support professionals throughout Illinois.
Far to many education support professionals barely make minimum wage while they provide some of the most important work in our schools and universities. We are some of the first people to greet students when they arrive, who give students the academic support they need to become successful scholars, who carefully assist with their health, safety, and nutritional needs, and are the last people who see students safely home at the end of the day. The value of our work is priceless.

| Members of JSSO met at Ringwood Elementary School in Ringwood on Dec. 11 to vote in their very first election. After a whirlwind three-month campaign, 48 paraprofessionals and teachers’ aides formed a new ESP local and they are already preparing to enter bargaining. Congratulations, JSSO! |
