Education Support Professional Council consists of thirteen (13) members all of whom are ESP school employees and members of the Illinois Education Association. The ESP council's goal is to represent and support ESP's throughout Illinois.
This month’s meeting will be a year-end review. We’ll celebrate our successes, discuss our challenges and strategize plans for improvement. Your ideas and suggestions will help us map out a strong 2024-2025 school year of RESPECT.
Do you have experience with excessive heat in school settings? NEA is gathering information on member and student experiences with extreme heat in classrooms, buses, kitchens, playgrounds, and more. We’ll use the information to advocate for legislative and regulatory improvements, both at the federal level and in our support to affiliates.
Meet Professional Learning Leaders (PLLs) from Project LEAP and learn how they have grown through this leadership experience, elevating their professional skills and presence. Gain insight into how to use a Professional Learning Leader Academy to strengthen the ESP community. The PLLs will share how, through their Academy experience, they have been inspired to stretch their thinking, use their voice, and increase their presence as union leaders.
Though we have made progress, the fight continues to support our students, and members to bring the changes we need and the rESPect we deserve. The 2024 legislative session wrapped up early Wednesday morning. Here’s what you need to know about IEA’s efforts in Springfield:

It’s Tier 2 Tuesday! In a historic display of solidarity with educators, cicadas are emerging after 13 and 17 years underground to raise their voice and call for lawmakers to undo Tier 2 and fix our state retirement system. Yesterday was day 2 of the May IEA Board of Directors meeting. A lot of great work happens at each BODs meeting: New business discussions, several reports (Secretary/Treasurer, Vice-President, Legislative, Aspiring Educators, Education Support Professional, Higher Education, NEA Directors, President Support Team, Retired, SURS, and TRS) are presented along with many other committee and subcommittee re committee reports.
I am extremely proud to announce that Gina Lozano and myself have been re-elected to the IEA Executive Committee. I am so proud to be in an organization who values education support professionals and their contributions to the betterment of public education and our members.
