Welcome Johnsburg Support Staff Organization (Region 23)
Members of JSSO met at Ringwood Elementary School in Ringwood on Dec. 11 to vote in their very first election. After a whirlwind three-month campaign, 48 paraprofessionals and teachers’ aides formed a new ESP local and they are already preparing to enter bargaining. Congratulations, JSSO!

Delaware ESP Ready to Collaborate With State Lawmakers, Open Doors

As legislators with the Delaware General Assembly begin the new legislative season this month in Dover, Amanda Gerardi and Tameka Mays are watching and waiting. The new co-chairs of the Delaware State Education Association’s Education Support Professional Task Force will lead the effort to help lawmakers understand ESP contributions toward student achievement and safety and pass bills that will support ESP professionally.

IEA-NEA ESP Emerging Leaders Academy

!!!!!ESP’s PLEASE READ!!!!!!

Have you ever wanted to take more of a leadership role at a local, state, or national level? The IEA-NEA ESP Emerging Leaders Academy is committed to helping ESP members acquire skills and the confidence needed to lead at the local level. Many program graduates have even stepped into state or national leadership positions. This strength and success has seeded a desire to expand its positive impact.

!!!!!The IEA-NEA is so committed to helping members grow and develop into strong leaders that all participants are fully funded for the following expenses:  Airfare, lodging in Denver, Colorado, at the Summer Leadership Academy and at the organizing project location. Breakfast and lunch, some dinners, substitute pay or salary reimbursement, and attendance to the NEA Leadership Summit are also fully funded.

This really is a GREAT opportunity for any ESP member.

TIPS, TRICKS AND MODIFICATIONS TO DEAL WITH STUDENT VIOLENCE


This is a hands-on workshop that will show participants how to use free or dollar store items to create materials to assist students with learning, engagement and focus. Participants will tap into their creative side and will leave this workshop with an assortment of tools that can be used immediately upon returning to their classroom, bus, lunchroom, or other work area. We will highlight where to find new ideas and how to adapt materials for a variety of learners. This workshop will energize Participants to “think outside of the box” with simple and fun ways to engage students and modify academic work to better meet student goals.

IEA-NEA ESP Emerging Leaders Academy

IEA-NEA ESP Emerging Leader Academy

The Illinois Education Association is partnering with the National Education Association to provide an IEA-NEA ESP Emerging Leaders Academy (ESP-ELA) based on the highly successful NEA Leaders for Tomorrow’s program (LFT).  The ESP-ELA was develop to provide support and leadership training for IEA’s emerging ESP leaders.   Many of IEA’s ESP leaders have attended the LFT program which has been instrumental in helping IEA’s ESP members acquire skills and the confidence needed to lead at the local level. Many program graduates have even stepped into state or national leadership positions. This strength and success has seeded a desire to expand its positive impact.
